Salvation Army celebrates 120 years in Edmonton
Tradition of handing out doughnuts goes back to the world wars
The Salvation Army is handing out free doughnuts at Fort Edmonton Park today to commemorate the charity's 120th anniversary in Edmonton.
The first Salvation Army officers arrived on July 6, 1893.
And why doughnuts?
Director of Development Darlene Burton says the tradition dates back to the two world wars.
