The municipal election campaign got underway in earnest on Tuesday night as three of the people vying to succeed retiring Mayor Stephen Mandel faced off at the first candidates' forum.

Kerry Diotte, Karen Leibovici and Don Iveson — all members of the current city council — were invited to take part in the forum hosted by the Urban Development Institute and the Edmonton chapter of the Canadian Home Builders' Association.

Edmontonians will vote for a mayor and council on Oct. 21.
