The legendary skating program at the Royal Glenora Club has been saved, after 78 per cent of club members voted in favour of refurbishing the rink.

The famous rink, which opened in 1921, was the training ground for several Olympic figure skaters including Kurt Browning, Jamie Sale and Kristi Yamaguchi.

But the rink was set to shut down at the end of May due to a lack of funding, leaving coaches and skaters out in the cold.

Members now agree a plan is needed to make the rink more sustainable in the future.
