RCMP seek help in identifying human remains
The RCMP have released photos of clothing found around some human remains near Vegreville, Alta., hoping they will generate tips to help identify the deceased.
The remains were found Nov. 3 in a wooded area about 25 kilometres west of Vegreville.
The medical examiner is still working on determining an identity and gender from the partial skeletal remains. Investigators are not releasing the cause of death, but are treating the case as a homicide until proven otherwise, police said Thursday.
In the meantime, RCMP Cpl. Wayne Oakes said he hopes someone recognizesthe clothing found at the scene, which couldhelp police identify thedeceased andthe circumstancesof the death.
The items include:
- A denim vest with a variety of Canadian and U.S. flags and Apollo badges.
- A piece of denim material possibly from the vest with several badges that say KISS.
