A 45-year-old man who seemed to have only minor injuries after he was punched in the face on Tuesday is now on life support in an Edmonton hospital.
Witnesses told police that five or six men congregated in the area of 101st Street and 111th Avenue on Tuesday evening and one of them punched the 45-year-old in the face.
He fell straight back and was briefly knocked unconscious, witnesses told police, who were called to the scene at about 7:20 p.m.
The man was taken to hospital for observation.
At 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, police were notified that the injured man is now on life support, in critical but stable condition.
Edmonton police are investigating. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police.
