Preliminary hearing starts in disabled woman's death
A preliminary hearing for a married couple charged in the death of a mentally disabled woman started Monday in Sherwood Park.
Michael Lee Scriven and Denise Margaret Scriven are accused of manslaughter, assault, unlawful confinement and failing to provide the necessities of life in the death of Denise Scriven's sister Betty Gagnon.
Gagnon, 48, was found dead in the front seat of a truck in November 2009.
The preliminary hearing will determine if there's enough evidence to put the couple on trial.
A publication ban covers all evidence presented during the hearing, which is expected to last two weeks.
