The Liberal policy handbook that Premier Ralph Klein threw at a page in the Alberta legislature in the spring is up for sale on eBay.
"You are bidding on a book which played a major role in a political embarrassment for Ralph Klein, premier of Alberta," reads the description on the eBay site.
"An era is coming to a close in Alberta politics. This book was a definite factor in creating that situation and may prove to have been the famous 'straw on the camel's back.' "
The incident occurred in March during question period when a member of the opposition asked a page to deliver a copy of the Liberals' 78-page handbook on health care to the premier.
Klein tossed the book back at the page, muttering "I don't need this crap."
At the time, Klein was fielding questions and responding to criticism over his controversial Third Way health reforms introduced earlier that week. He later apologized for his behaviour
John McEwan, a volunteer for a Liberal constituency association in Edmonton, is representing the seller, whose name he won't reveal. McEwan guarantees the buyer of the policy book will be getting the real thing. Proceeds will go to Edmonton's emergency centre for youth.
Bids opened Wednesday at about $200 and quickly rose to more than $500 by Thursday. It will beon the blockuntil 11 a.m. July 4.
