Edmonton police are investigating the suspicious death of a 50-year-old man in downtown Edmonton Wednesday evening.

EMS called police to the 8th floor of the Capital Tower apartment building at 101st Street and 106th Avenue around 8:40 p.m.

"We arrived and found a man believed to be in his early fifties, unresponsive," said Insp. Brian Nowlan. "There were some obvious signs of trauma to the body."

Nowlan says a woman who was in the suite made the initial call to EMS. She was not injured and is not considered a suspect.

Officers are knocking on doors in the building to see if anyone saw or heard anything. Homicide detectives will be taking over the investigation, Nowlan said.
