Police investigate after pork scraps left at mosque
Scraps of pork were left outsideEdmonton's Canadian Islamic Centre recently, prompting police to investigate the incident as a hate crime.
The pig meat, whichMuslimsdon't eat for religious reasons, was dropped off in the morning of Nov. 1 beforemembers arrived for early prayers,police said on Wednesday.
Theincident is being taken seriously by the police department'shate and bias crime unit, said Karen Carlson, a spokeswoman for Edmonton Police.
Two officers workin the unit.
"When they were there, they took some of the pictures," Carlson said.
"Unfortunately, there's often in these cases not a lot to go on, but hopefully they'll be able to work with it and be able to make arrests."
