A woman found dead last week in the Wapiti River in northern Alberta was a 46-year-old Grande Prairie resident, police said Tuesday.
Laurie Wyley, also known as Laurie Descheneaux, was found Thursday afternoon near a pulp and paper mill, about 12 kilometres south of Grande Prairie.
Wyley was also known by the nickname Mouse, police said.
They have called her death suspicious.
RCMP said they would like to hear from anyone who saw Wyley or anything unusual in the area stretching from O'Brien Provincial Park to the mill between 4 p.m. Wednesday and noon on Thursday .
RCMP continued to investigate Tuesday, using technical search and rescue staff, the forensic identification section, the major crimes section and air services.
