Police are searching for a man accused of assaulting a woman in west Edmonton Thursday night.

The woman tells police that she was assaulted by the man while near Riverbend Road and 40th Avenue around 11:40 p.m. Thursday.

The man was scared off by a vehicle that that drove past and the woman was able to escape.

The woman was not injured.

Police are looking to talk with the driver of the vehicle that scared the attacker off to see if they could help track down the man.

The suspect is Caucasian, about 25 years old. He was clean shaven and had short brown hair. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, jeans and sunglasses.

Police think the attack may have been connected to a similar attack that happened on September 17.

A woman in her mid-20’s was walking in the same area when she was attacked by a man from behind.

She screamed and the attacker fled.

She also escaped uninjured.
