Pilot killed in small plane crash in eastern Alberta
A 75-year-old man was killed Monday when the small aircraft he was flying crashed down near Provost, Alta.
Police say they received a call about the downed plane around 4 p.m.
When they arrived on scene, they found the body of the pilot trapped upside down in the amateur-built BEDE Model BD5B plane.
RCMP say they will not be releasing the name of the pilot, but have confirmed he is from Calgary. His body has been taken to the Edmonton medical examiner for further investigation.
The cause of the crash is not yet known. The Transportation Safety Board has been notified and is expected to send out an investigator.
Provost is about 300 kilometres southeast of Edmonton.
