Fire departments from Bonnyville, Ardmore, Glendon and other nearby communities were called to the scene around 2:22 a.m. The fire was later contained to the third floor, CKSA Television in Lloydminister reported.

"As a result of interviewing some of the occupants of the building, it was determined that there may be one individual unaccounted for," said RCMP Staff Sgt. Luis Gandolfi.

"At this time it is not possible to enter the structure to continue with any sort of a search. It's still an active fire."

The Bonnyville fire department confirms one firefighter suffered burns to his hands and shoulders.

Eleven people were able to get out of the building. Several were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
