Patient in isolation over concerns of ‘potential contagious illness’
Last month the Royal Alexandra Hospital briefly closed the emergency department due to an Ebola scare
Alberta Health Services confirmed Saturday that a patient has been isolated in an Edmonton hospital over concerns that they have a potentially contagious illness
AHS would not confirm what the illness may be, but says infection prevention and control protocols have been put in place to protect the health and safety of patients, staff and the public.
Further details will not be released until a diagnosis is confirmed, says AHS spokesperson Kerry Williamson.
Last month, the emergency department of the Royal Alexandra Hospital was shut down for hours after a patient who had been to Africa showed possible Ebola symptoms.
