Parents of starved Alberta girl denied bail
The Edmonton parents accused of starving their two-year-old twin daughters will remain in custody after a Court of Queen's Bench Justice upheld a lower court decision denying them bail.
The couple, who cannot be named, currently face two counts each of aggravated assault, criminal negligence causing bodily harm and failing to provide the necessities of life.
One of the girls — who can only be identified as "M" — died in September after a judge ordered that she be taken off life support.
The couple has been in custody since June, three weeks after paramedics discovered the severely malnourished girls when they were called to a house in south Edmonton.
