Oilers call up goalie Danis following Khabibulin injury
The Edmonton Oilers announced Monday they are recalling goaltender Yann Danis from their American farm team, filling a gap left after netminder Nikolai Khabibulin's injury during Sunday night's loss to the Vancouver Canucks.
The Oilers' reserve goalie, Devan Dubnyk, was brought in at the start of the second period after Khabibulin hurt his groin. The Canucks finished off the Oilers 5-2 at Rexall Place.
Danis, from Lafontaine, Que., has appeared in 33 games in his first season with the American Hockey League's Oklahoma City Barons. He has a league-leading 1.98 GAA and 21-10-1 record.
He was named to the 2012 AHL all-star game, and has played in 49 NHL career games with the Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils, posting a 16-21-4 record and 2.69 goals-against average.
