A guard at the Peace River Correctional Centre is facing drug charges after police seized marihuana, oxycodone pills, and methamphetamine they believe were intended to be smuggled into the facility.
The 30-year-old peace officer faces three charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one charge of possession of proceeds of crime.
The drugs were found in a search of the guard's vehicle after investigators were tipped off, police said in a news release Monday.
Two other people were also arrested in the investigation.
According to the province's website, the centre, 500 kilometres northwest of Edmonton, accommodates 304 adult male inmates who are remanded in custody or serving provincial sentences.
