Canada Post is planning to build its new downtown depot north of the LRT tracks, on 96th Street and 105th A Ave, CBC News has learned.
The postal service’s current location on 103A Ave, just north of the courthouse, is being torn down to make room for the new Royal Alberta Museum.
Construction on the new depot will begin in August.
Canada Post says the facility will only be used for mail sorting.
A new store planned for the Oliver Square shopping mall will handle stamp sales and parcels.
The new sorting plant is expected to open in the spring.
