Opening of the new northwest LRT line to NAIT has been pushed back by two months because of delays with the signalling system.

The line was supposed to open in April 2014. It will now open in late June.

“It’s kind of a bit of cascade of effects,” said city spokesman Graeme McElheran.

“Need to make sure that the signals are working perfectly before we can begin to running trains on that line reliably and safely and that’s when we begin the commissioning and the overall preparation of the line for public service.”

McElheran says the delay won't cost the city anything.
