An arrest has been made in a five-year-old homicide.
Andrew Frang, 25, was fatally stabbed early on Nov. 9, 2008 when he got into an altercation at 118th Avenue and 124th Street.
He had just left a pub with his girlfriend when two youths asked him them for a cigarette. An altercation broke out when the couple ignored the request.
A break in the case came when a second suspect in the slaying gave a DNA sample for an unrelated case which matched DNA that was collected in 2008.
"What made this homicide particularly difficult is the fact it was a random act by an unknown person,"said Staff Sgt. David Christoffel.
"In the 13 of the 17 homicides this year in which charges have been laid, our victims and accused were known to one another."
A 21-year-old male is charged with second-degree murder. However, he cannot be named because he was 16 at the time of the crime.
