Mourners remember slain teacher
Hundreds of mourners attended a funeral Friday for a popular Spruce Grove teacher who was found dead in her home last week.
Friends, family and students attended the service at the West Meadows Baptist Church for Jolene Cote, 36.
Police found Cote's body after they responded to a 911 call at a rural home near Spruce Grove around 6:10 a.m. on Oct. 13th. RCMP are calling her death a homicide but they have made no arrests.
Cote taught Grade 9 at Greystone Centennial Middle School. She was remembered as an educator who loved teaching, with students who loved her back. The school was closed for the day to allow staff and students to attend the service.
Mourners also spoke about how she never hestitated to get on her hands and knees to play with her two young children.
Cote's three sisters stood at the podium with their arms locked together as they spoke of how positive and supportive she was.
