Charges have been laid against yet another parent after two children were left alone in a vehicle in Mill Woods.

Police say a passerby called to report seeing two children, aged two and nine, alone in a van – which was left running –watching a DVD while their mother was in the store.

Charges have been laid against the children’s mother under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act the fourth time such charges have been laid in the past week.

Staff Sergeant Gary Willits said EPS has been focusing on this issue for the past year.

“We've really gone with a ... harder stance there's got to be a consequence to this,” said Willits.

“We are seeing an increase in calls, so therefore you are seeing an increase in charging as well.”
