Three people were hurt in a series of crashes that sent a taxi van through glass windows and into the lobby of Millennium Place in Sherwood Park Monday.

A 41-year-old man who had been standing in the lobby of the recreation centre and the driver of the taxi were taken to hospital in serious condition, said RCMP.

The taxi hit an SUV in the parking lot of the facility, picked up speed and crashed through the building's southeast entrance.

The female driver of the SUV was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said it appears the 42-year-old driver of the taxi may have had a medical incident prior to the collision.
