The old Mercer Warehouse on 104th Street was nearly empty for decades until a massive renovation turned it into one of the hippest hangouts in downtown Edmonton.

Today, the Mercer is home to a pub, coffee house and Startup Edmonton, a workspace and incubator for small-business owners.

The prospects are bright for the new space, which is right across the street from the future downtown arena and entertainment district.

The CBC’s Portia Clark recently took a tour of the building with Devin Pope, project manager for the warehouse transformation and one of the owners of the Mercer Tavern.

The Mercer Warehouse is also the home of Startup Edmonton, a co-working space for entrepreneurs. (CBC)
