Maskwacis homicide leads to arrest of 19-year-old man

A 19-year-old Samson Cree Nation man is facing murder charges in connection with the death of Kirsten Cutknife, 20, at Maskwacis, Alta., Saturday morning.

A 19-year-old Samson Cree Nation man is facing murder charges in connection with the death of Kirsten Cutknife, 20, at Maskwacis, Alta., on Saturday morning.

RCMP were called to the home Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

The teen was arrested late Saturday and charged with second-degree murder. He was also charged with assault with a weapon on a second 20-year-old Samson Cree woman at the home. 

All three people are known to each other, police said.

The suspect will make his first court appearance on Dec. 17.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
