Students now allowed to leave schools
A manhunt for a suspect believed armed and dangerous moved east of Grande Prairie Tuesday.
Students in the northwestern Alberta city were kept in their classrooms as a precaution Tuesday morning while police looked for the man suspected in a number of armed robberies Monday night.
Police tried to pull over a car this morning which was stolen last night at gunpoint, but the car took off.
Police gave chase briefly before calling off the pursuit when it became too dangerous.
Grande Prairie RCMP were looking for a black Honda Civic but found the vehicle later in the day along with two pickup trucks police believe are connected to their investigation.
RCMP said in a news release that they were focusing their investigation on a rural property.
The suspect is described as caucasian, clean-shaven, about 6' tall and wearing a red shirt, red hat and possibly sunglasses.
