A man and a woman face numerous charges in two violent purse snatchings near Whyte Avenue last week.
The Edmonton Police Service's tactical unit descended on a southside residence Monday afternoon and made the arrests, said spokesperson Scott Pattison.
A 22-year-old man is charged with two counts of personal robbery, and one each of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.
A 25-year-old woman is facing two counts of personal robbery and one count of possession or use of a stolen credit card.
Last Tuesday night a 26-year-old woman was stabbed and robbed of her purse while walking at 106th Street and 81st Avenue.
The woman fought with the suspect who then stabbed her.
The woman told officers the man had gotten out of a black SUV, but fled on foot.
A little more than an hour later, police responded to a second purse snatching where a woman was walking up the stairs to her home near 105th Street and 79th Avenue when she was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground.
