Man pleads guilty in fatal hit and run
A man from Duffield, Alta. pleaded guilty Tuesday in relation to a hit and run that killed a Stony Plain cyclist in September 2007.
Casey Meads pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and obstruction of a police officer in the crash that killed William Korol, 38.
Meads was also facing charges of criminal negligence causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, but both were withdrawn.
Korol was killed after a truck struck his mountain bike on Stony Plain Road just west of Anthony Henday Drive in the early hours of Sept. 15, 2007. He died at the scene.
Meads, who was 21 at the time he was charged, will be back in court for sentencing on March 24.
