Man in critical condition after northwest Edmonton shooting
A 27-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot at a home in northwest Edmonton Thursday.
Police have not released the name of the person, but a man who showed up at the scene identified him as his son, Omar Househ.
Police said they received a 911 call from a home near 135 Street and 158 Avenue around 6 p.m. from a man who said he had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found a man at the front door with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. It appears he had been shot through the front door, said police.
"Our gang unit members are responding to the scene and they are investigating possible gang ties," Edmonton police Staff Sgt. Ken Hykawi said Thursday.
Police were originally investigating reports that two other men suffered injuries, but now say there is no evidence to support that.
This is the second shooting in Edmonton in a week, after a man was shot and killed at a home near 112 Street and 90 Avenue Tuesday, the city's third homicide of 2008.
