A man whose frozen body was found in the front yard of a home in north Edmonton on Saturday morning was the victim of a homicide, police said Wednesday.

Melvin Edward Hansen, 21, was found dressed only in shirt and pants following a night when the temperature plunged to -37 C.

The person who owned the home called 911 after discovering the body around 10:45 a.m.

The cause of Hansen's death has not been released, but police said it's possible the killing was drug-related.
