Man dead after vehicle rollover on Fort Road
The man's death marks the 11th traffic fatality this year
A man died and a woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries after a single-vehicle rollover on Fort Road Sunday night.
Police said a Pontiac Sunfire was travelling south on Fort Road around 17 Street at high speeds when the car lost control and drove off the road. It rolled several times before coming to a rest in the ditch.
Emergency services were called to the scene, where the 40-year-old driver was declared dead. A 53-year-old female passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the incident.
The man’s death marks Edmonton's 11th traffic fatality this year. There were 13 traffic fatalities in 2013.
