A man has been charged withsecond-degree murderin the death of his sister-in-law, whose bodywas found last month in her Edmontonhome.

Ken Butler, 24, was in court Wednesday, and sentfor asecond psychiatric assessment, this time to determine whether he can be held criminally responsible in the death of Stephanie Butler, 25.

Michael Butler, Stephanie's husband, has insisted thatpolice should have checked on his wife after his brother was arrestedon April 6in connection with an assault on a cab driver near the couple'ssouthwest Edmonton home.

Michael Butlerwas out of town when his wife's body was found by her parents the next day.

Just days before his wife's death, Michael Butler called police when his brother tried to break into their house. At the time, Ken Butler was released on $300 bail and a justice of the peace ordered him to stay away from the couple's home.

Butler has also been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the attack on the cab driver.
