A young couple from Lacombe County are the lucky winners of an $18 million Lotto 6/49 prize drawn on June 25.

Bradley Kelly bought his usual $19 quick pick ticket while in a 7-Eleven in Claresholm, Alta.

It wasn’t until a week later that Kelly had a chance to check the stack of tickets.

“First ticket I checked on the self check I almost fell on my butt right there,” he said.

“I couldn't really believe it. I was like ‘oh my God’ because there's all these numbers. So I gave it to the store clerk and I said I think something's wrong with your machine.”

After the clerk confirmed the win, Bradley said he was in "absolute shock."

“When I saw all of those numbers, I just started pacing back and forth.”

Kelly and his wife Amanda say they plan to use the money to pay bills and go on a honeymoon.

This is the second big lottery win announced in Alberta this month. On July 22 an Edmonton couple claimed their $50 million win from December's jackpot.
