Karen Leibovici outspent competitors in mayoral race
Failed Edmonton mayoral candidate Karen Leibovici far outspent her competitors in the 2013 Edmonton civic election, reveal documents released by the city today.
Leibovici raised almost $650,000, but still finished the campaign just over $140,000 in the red.
Winning candidate Don Iveson managed to raise $610,000 and finished with $42,000 of that still in the bank.
Third-place finisher Kerry Diotte raised nearly $180,000, spending all but $59.
Two other mayoral candidates reported their campaigns were self-funded.
Iveson won the race garnering 132,000 votes, while Leibovici finished with 41,000 and Diotte just under 33,000.
