Justice served up in a sputtering car
RCMP in Leduc received an unexpected boon Tuesday when a car carrying a wanted man sputtered to a stop in front of a group of officers.
Police say they were on the scene of an unrelated collision on Highway 2 in Nisku Tuesday afternoon when a vehicle on the highway stalled right in front of them.
The male driver appeared anxious as he desperately tried to re-start the vehicle, RCMP say.
After an officer approached the driver to see if he needed any help, it was determined the man had an outstanding warrant and was also driving with a suspended licence.
The vehicle’s passenger also had an outstanding warrant
"This vehicle the individual was driving broke down at the wrong place, at the wrong time,” said Cst. Julian Celms in a statement.
"Our first thought was to help him, but it turned out he and the passenger helped us clear up some outstanding warrants."
The driver has now been charged with driving while suspended and released on bail. He is due in court later this week.
