Edmonton fire officials now estimate a fire at an Edmonton industrial building caused about $1 million in damages, but there is still no word on what caused the two-alarm blaze.
Firefighters arrived on scene just before 5:00 A.M. after being alerted that flames and smoke were seen coming from Integrative Protective Coatings Inc. near 50th Street and 72nd Avenue.
Although the fire was declared ‘under control’ around 8:00 A.M., crews remained on site for much of the day dousing flames and overhauling the structure.
It was not until 6:03 P.M. that the fire was declared to be completely out.
Chemical fumes from the fire did not pose any threat, said Deputy Fire Chief Jim Henderson.
No one was injured in the fire.
