Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP were called to the Enoch Cree Nation early Sunday morning after a resident reported animals had found human remains.

Police secured the scene and the remains were transported to the medical examiner's officer for an autopsy, which is schedule to take place on Tuesday.

In a release Sunday afternoon, the RCMP said they plan to use dental records and DNA to confirm the identity of the body by mid-week.

RCMP are now searching the surrounding area and interviewing witnesses.

Cpl. Colette Zazulak told CBC News police believe the body is male, and do not believe the death to be suspicious at this time.
