Homicide charges laid after woman beaten in Castle Downs home
Gilbert Paul Robinson is now in police custody
Police have charged 58-year-old Gilbert Paul Robinson with second-degree murder following the death of his estranged wife on Wednesday.
Police and EMS were called to Robinson’s home near Warwick Road in Castle Downs on Monday evening.
When they arrived, they found 54-year-old Aileen “Gina” Robinson with serious injuries. She was treated at the scene and then taken to hospital where she died Wednesday afternoon.
At the time of her death, the two were legally married but living apart, said Staff Sgt. Brad Goeson with the homicide unit.
Following an autopsy carried out Friday, the medical examiner ruled blunt force trauma to be the cause of death.
Police say the injuries were the result of aggravated assault.
Goeson said Gilbert Robinson was arrested without incident Saturday morning.
He is now in police custody.
