Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy on the Samson Cree Nation at Hobbema last weekend.
Levonne Baptiste was shot to death early Saturday morning.
RCMP are looking for Lindsey Bruno, 19, a resident of Hobbema, described as 5’10", 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Police credit the community for helping them identify a suspect in the homicide.
"It’s as a direct result of their willingness to work with the police that we were able to lay charges this quickly, " said Insp. Charles Wood.
"The community dynamic is changing in Hobbema. These charges send a strong message that the people of Hobbema have chosen to break down that wall of silence."
RCMP said both Baptiste and Bruno are affiliated with gangs on the reserve.
