City officials advise drivers to plan alternate routes over long weekend

Edmonton's Groat Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 107th Avenue to Victoria Park Road over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

The closure will begin 9 p.m. Friday and continue till 5 a.m. Tuesday for drainage tunnelling work, say City of Edmonton staff.

Sidewalks and multi-use trails will remain open, however.

City staff are advising drivers to detour using 124th Street and Jasper Avenue to Victoria Park Road, Quesnel Bridge or the High Level Bridge.

Edmonton Transit Route 128 will detour using 107 Avenue, 116 Street and Victoria Park Road while the construction work is carried out.

City staff say the closure is necessary to construct an essential piece of drainage infrastructure.
