Grande Prairie suspect arrested after manhunt

A 24-year-old man was arrested early this morning east of Grande Prairie after a day-long manhunt Tuesday.

Robbery suspect considered armed and dangerous

A 24-year-old man was arrested early this morning east of Grande Prairie, Alta., after a day-long manhunt Tuesday. 

RCMP arrested the suspect, believed armed and dangerous, at 2 a.m. at a rural home they had surrounded since Tuesday afternoon. 

After police entered the home, they found the man hiding in the attic.

The suspect, who has no fixed address, is facing charges including robbery, firearm offences and flight from police.

RCMP said they received numerous tips leading to the identity of the suspect after media published the man's photograph.  

Students in Grande Prairie schools were kept in their classrooms as a precaution Tuesday morning while police looked for the man who was suspected in a number of armed robberies Monday night.
