Garage fire in north Edmonton damages 8 buildings
Fire investigators are looking into the the cause of an explosion and fire that destroyed two garages Wednesday afternoon in the city's north end.
The fire started in a garage at 167th Avenue and 103rd Street, and then quickly spread to the garage next door.
"There was a huge explosion," said Matthew Skjersven, who lives two doors away from the explosion site. "Just the house on fire, smoke everywhere in the sky, and [I saw] a fireball. It was crazy."
He filmed the explosion and posted it to YouTube.
About 10 fire vehicles responded to the blaze, which blossomed into a massive plume of fire and smoke at one point.
Fire officials said that about eight buildings were damaged by the flames and heat.
