Fort Sask RCMP arrest 2 in alleged art scam

Two men have been arrested for allegedly defrauding people while selling paintings door-to-door Saturday.

Two people have been arrested for allegedly trying to scam people in Fort Saskatchewan while selling artwork.

RCMP say the two men were arrested after police received complaints Saturday about two men selling paintings door-to-door.

"They were worried that the paintings that they were sold were not originals," said Cst. Christine Dmytriw with RCMP.

"It is a pretty odd situation."

Dmytriw says Canadian Border Services has been brought in on the case.

"They’ve taken over the investigation," she said.

"[The suspects] were not Canadian citizens."
