People in Fort McKay have been told to keep their children indoors after wolves were spotted in and around the northern Alberta community.
Three wolves have been caught in traps set up around the community. The animals have been seen in yards and close to homes.
Cort Gallup from the Fort McKay First Nation says they suspect the wolves are looking for food.
“We're asking people to not leave children unattended, not to walk alone, keep pets indoors,” he said. “We're also asking them to keep their yards clean and don't leave garbage out.”
Several pet dogs have gone missing but it isn’t clear whether the wolves are to blame.
