A former letter carrier is charged with mail theft following a joint investigation by Canada Post, St. Albert RCMP, and Edmonton police.
Police began their investigation last November. They recovered a large quantity of mail, some dating back as far as 1993. The bulk of the material, however, was advertising mail. Canada Post is now notifying customers who lived on the mail route.
A 39-year-old man faces five charges, including mail theft and criminal breach of trust. He is scheduled to be in St. Albert Provincial Court Jan. 18.
