First-degree murder charges laid in Falher deaths
A 49-year-old man is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the slayings of his former common-law wife and her daughter near Falher, Alta.
Edward John Chomiak, from Nampa, Alta., was charged in the deaths of Melody Perry, 45, and Jerica Bouchard, 20.
The bodies of the two women were found inside the home Wednesday morning after police responded to a 911 hang-up call.
Chomiak was under a restraining order at the time of the slayings, RCMP said.
Autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death were underway Thursday.
Falher is about 430 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
