Firefighters battle blaze in northwest Edmonton
Pallet manufacturing company caught fire early this morning
Edmonton firefighters are on the scene of a fire in city's northwest near 168 street and 128 avenue.
A pallet manufacturing company caught fire at around three o'clock on Saturday morning.
"At the height of the blaze it was reported that we had flames that were forty feet up in the air and heavy smoke throughout," said Laura Ruddock fire spokesperson.
At one point, sixty firefighters were on the scene.
Ruddock says fighting the fire has been difficult given the large number of pallets near the business.
"The building is surrounded by wooden pallets which is fuel for fire. There was concern when we first got here that this could become much bigger than it did and spread very quickly," she said.
No one was injured and nearby businesses were not evacuated.
The cause is under investigation.
...more to come.
