A man was taken to hospital late Tuesday night after a fight outside the Mustard Seed left him with multiple stab wounds to his chest.

The victim showed up at downtown police headquarters around 10 p.m. He was taken there by a friend who was not involved in the fight, Staff Sgt. Malcolm Allan said.

“The gentleman who was initially at police headquarters … he’s in surgery as we speak,” Allan said. “His injuries are serious.”

Police learned the man at police headquarters got into a fight with another man outside the Mustard Seed Church at 96th Street and 106A Avenue.

Both received stab and slash wounds. Broken glass on the ground suggests a bottle was used in the attack.

Police are interviewing a number of witnesses. Allan doesn’t know what sparked the altercation.
