The family of an Edmonton woman who died after she was beaten in a Castle Downs home spoke out about her death Sunday.
Aileen Robinson, known as Gina, died in hospital on Wednesday, two days after she was beaten in her estranged husband’s Castle Downs home.
In a statement made on behalf of the family, Robinson's brother Reginald Chimko said “Our family has been greatly impacted by this tragic event."
“Gina was a beloved sister, mom, coworker and friend,” he said of the mother-of-two. “Gina lit up the room whenever she entered and her laugh was infectious. She cared about her family and everyone, and loved her children dearly.”
“Her loss is devastating – not only to her family, ourselves – but to everyone that knew her.”
Chimko fought back tears as he described his sister’s lasting impact: “We know she has left us, but through her organ donation, four other people live longer as a tribute to her character.”
“She was the perfect sister. If God could bless anybody, she did us.”
The family did not want to comment on the man charged in her death, Robinson’s estranged husband, Gilbert Paul Robinson, who was taken into police custody on Saturday.
He has been charged with second degree murder.
