A birthday party was held in Edmonton on Saturday for the little boy killed in May while eating dinner with his family on a restaurant patio.

Geo Mounsef would have turned three years old today.

His family organized a community gathering in the same place his second birthday party was held last year.

Geo’s mother Sage Morin said the party was her way of thanking the many strangers who supported her and her family through their loss.

"There's a lot of days when I don't want to get out of bed — but we've got a lot of really good things going on ... in Geo's honour. So that makes it a little bit easier," she said.
